factors affect burn recovery

1-Phase of recovery
  • Acute or pre grafting phase  the aim is to preserve ROM and strength and decrease the intensity of exercise due to pain .
  • In post acute phase increase the intensity and perform functional and independent as the pain decrease
2-intent of exercise.
  • Aim of exercise determine the type of exercise
  • Design the therapeutic method to match with goal will be achieved.
3-Patient medical statue

  • If patient unconscious passive exercise is appropriate.
4-Age
  • Extreme of the young and aged unreliable to actively participate in an independent exercise need outside assistance.
  • Do not give more instruction to the young and old age.
  • After age 25:30 the physical capacity of the adult to exercise decline approximately 8:10% each decade.
5- Social support
  • By the relative to participate in the program of treatment .
6- Frequency of treatment
  • During painful recovery patient exercise frequency for short period and then with improvement increase the time and decrease the frequency.
7- Location of burn
  • Exercise should focus on the area most likely to develop scar tissue (near joint, crease
8- Extent of burn
  • Increase the extent ------- increase the contracture ----------- increase the need to exercise.
9-Depth of burn
