Exercise with positioning and splinting is the essential part of a burn patient's rehabilitation program.
Problems that counter the exercise in a burn patients.
1- Extensive wound
2- Extreme pain
3- Fear of causing additional tissue damage.

Goal of exercise.
A-  ultimate goal of burn rehabilitation/
is to assist the patient to return to society at the most optimal functional level as possible compared to their pre-injury status.

    B- Specific goals.
1-      Reduce edema and promote circulation.
2-      Prevent scar tissue contractures and deformities 
3-      Preserve muscle strength and joint mobility/
4-      Promote maximal function independence/

 Factor affecting the establishment of a burn patient exercise program.

1- Goal to achieve.          2- Phase of recovery.       3- Intent of exercise.
4- Patient medical status.     5- Age of patient.     6- Social support. 
7- Frequency of treatment.     8- Location of burn.    9- Extent of burn.
10- Precaution and contraindication.     11- Types of exercise.

1- Phase of recovery.
  Acute or pre-grafting phase the aim is to preserve ROM and strength and decrease the intensity of exercise due to pain.
  In post acute phase increase the intensity and prefer functional and independency exercise as the pain decrease.

2- Intent of exercise.
Aim of exercise determines the type of exercise design the therapeutic methods to match with goal will be achieved.

3- Patient medical status.
